Terry Kulesa

Terry Kulesa is a co-founder and President of IR1 Group. Terry handles business development, team management and construction and operations services. He was previously VP of Operations for Pacific Ethanol, Inc, which he joined early in its development and was responsible for the design, construction and operation of five ethanol plants totaling over $500 million of construction and over $500 million of annual revenues. Prior to that, he was General Manager for Ace Ethanol, where he was involved in the development and construction and was responsible for company operations and P&L. He was General Manager for POET’s Ethanol 2000 plant where he led all company operations and was responsible for company P&L. Terry has over 23 years experience in managing operations. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Renewable Fuels Association and has held management positions with Kraft Foods and Borden. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Ag-Biosciences (Dairy Manufacturing) from South Dakota State University and an MBA from the University of Minnesota.

Jeff Manternach

Jeff Manternach is a co-founder and CFO of IR1 Group. Jeff handles business development, financial modeling, industry valuations and project development services. Prior to IR1 Group, Jeff was the VP of Finance at Pacific Ethanol, Inc.,. As its first employee, he served many roles and participated heavily in its development. While there, Jeff lead debt capital raises of $400+ million, including a $325 million project finance deal in Feb 2007 that won Project Finance Magazine's Ethanol Deal of the Year Award. Prior to Pacific Ethanol, Jeff was a financial consultant at Pacific Resources and focused on controllership projects. Jeff received his MBA with distinction and an MS in Natural Resources from the University of Michigan and his BA in Economics and Physical Anthropology from Haverford College. An active member of his community, Jeff has served as treasurer for the Central California Lacrosse Club, Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce and the San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy Organization. He currently resides in the Portland, OR area and is a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization - Portland.

Jim Moore

Jim Moore’s professional career spans over 30 years of construction, engineering & operations management with an emphasis on design/build projects for the process and manufacturing industries. He possesses a demonstrated record of success in managing the P&L for projects and multi-plant programs of over US$500M in capital value, and teams up to 110 design engineering and 500 construction personnel for in house and client account design build projects in multiple industries. Moore also has extensive experience in renewable energy technology, and served as Senior Project Executive for a major US ethanol technology provider as well as Director of Engineering and Construction at Pacific Ethanol, Inc., where he managed design/build efforts on four greenfield ethanol plants. Jim has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University. He spent almost two years in Europe, working in Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, and Spain.

Joe Winckler

Joe Winckler is Director of Operations of IR1 Group. Joe leads onsite construction management, plant evaluation, plant repair and plant operations work for clients. He was previously the GM of Operations at Pacific Ethanol, Inc., where he was responsible for development, construction and operations of five ethanol production plants totaling $500+ million of construction cost and $500+ million of annual revenues. Joe had management responsibility for over 120 employees, including the plants’ production managers, lab managers and commodity managers. Prior to Pacific Ethanol, Joe was the Plant Manager at Ace Ethanol and Ethanol 2000, where he was heavily involved in its development, construction and operations of each facility. Joe started his ethanol career at the first POET plant in 1993. Joe is a graduate of the Graduate US Army Non-Commissioned Officers Academy (Korea) and the Graduate Process Safety Management School (Louisville, KY).

Tom Aumer

Tom Aumer is an Operations Manager at IR1 Group, where he is responsible for plant management at IR1 Group managed plants. Tom was previously a Production Manager at Valero’s ethanol plant in Jefferson, WI. Prior to Valero, Tom was a consultant for IR1 Group. Prior to his work with IR1 Group, Tom was the Operations Manager at Pacific Ethanol, Inc., where he was responsible for operations at Pacific Ethanol’s five ethanol plants and managed four production managers. Tom managed the classroom training and standard operating procedures. Prior to Pacific Ethanol, Tom was the Production Manager at Ace Ethanol and Operations Supervisor at Ethanol 2000. Tom is a veteran of the First Gulf War (Desert Shield & Desert Storm).

Mary Dinh

Mary Dinh is a Project Manger at IR1 Group. Mary’s work experience encompasses both engineering and project management. Prior to joining IR1 Group, Mary was a Development Engineer at UC Santa Barbara’s Mechanical Engineering Dept., where she was responsible for the design, development, and management of undergraduate lab courses and advising student design projects. Her technical experience also includes R&D of medical devices at Guidant Corporation. Mary also has extensive international experience working with rural communities. While at UCSB, she founded the student chapter of Engineers Without Borders-USA and led teams of students and professionals in design and implementation of appropriate technologies in rural Peru for 8 years, including clean water systems and clean cookstoves. She taught secondary school physics in Ghana for 2 years and has also spent time in Haiti working with non-profits and Haitian farmers to improve farmer livelihoods and incentivize reforestation. Mary has a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and UC Berkeley, respectively, and an MBA in Global Social & Sustainable Enterprise from Colorado State University.
